If your outgoing mail server is using a custom port or if one or moreof the standard ports are blocked, you may need to adjust yoursettings to use a different port.

Mac OS X 10.5 and later

In Mac OS X 10.5 and later, Mail automatically attempts to use thecommonly used ports of 25, 465, and 587; to specify a different port:

  1. From the Mail menu, select Preferences....In the window that appears, click Accounts.
  2. In the third section under the Account Information tab,from the menu next to 'Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP):' select EditSMTP Server List....
  3. In the sheet that drops down, click the mail server whose portsyou want to change; then click the Advanced tab.
  4. Select Use custom port: and then type the port number youwant to use.
  5. Click OK.

Mac OS X 10.4

  1. From the Mail menu, select Preferences....In the window that appears, click Accounts.
